🧑‍💼 Who Can Apply? | Eligibility Criteria FOR Applications are now open for the prestigious UN-Portugal Ocean Fellowship 2025 (Fully Funded),

To be considered for the UN-Portugal Ocean Fellowship, applicants must:

  • 🌎 Be a citizen of a developing country, particularly from SIDS or LDCs

  • 👨‍⚖️ Hold a senior decision-making role (e.g., Head/Deputy Head of Ocean Agencies, Maritime Ambassadors, or equivalent)

  • 📜 Have demonstrated experience in ocean policy and governance

  • 🕰️ Be committed to public service for the medium to long term

  • 💬 Be fluent in English (the program is conducted entirely in English)

Note: Applications from women and Indigenous leaders are strongly encouraged to promote inclusive, equitable participation.

📝 Application Process

Applications must be submitted by UN Member States through an official nomination process. Here’s how:

  1. 🔹 A Note Verbale from the country’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, listing all nominated candidates (ranked by priority if more than one)

  2. 🔹 A Completed Nomination Form for each candidate
